What’s better than actual rose petals to decorate your desserts? Edible Fondant Rose Petals! Here’s a complete video tutorial to learn how to make fondant rose petals.

They’re perfect to decorate cakes and cupcakes (vanilla cupcakes are a great canvas), cookies and bar recipes, and to be used as a garnish for drinks (like this rose cocktail and white chocolate cocktail) and other desserts too!

A few months ago, I made this amazing White Chocolate Cocktail inspired by my Sri Lankan Falooda drink, but never got around to publishing it on the blog until recently.

It’s a delightfully delicious, sweet, creamy, floral white chocolate cocktail flavored with a rose syrup made from scratch and it also has a very romantic feel to it because of that gorgeous red, pink colors.

I decided to take that romantic vibe a step further, and made these beautiful fondant rose petals to garnish that cocktail. Together, these make the perfect combo of valentine’s day recipes.

So if you guys have fondant tools (which are easy to find in any cake decorating supplies store, or some supermarkets or on Amazon), here’s a SIMPLE tutorial on how to make those gorgeous and very realistic-looking Fondant Rose Petals, so you can decorate absolutely anything you want with edible flower petals like these! 🙂

Use the edible fondant rose petals to decorate cakes and cupcakes such as,

  • Easy vanilla cake
  • Vanilla cupcakes
  • Classic chocolate cake
  • Chocolate cupcakes
  • Mulled wine cake (sponge cake with wine frosting)
  • Ribbon cake (swirled pastel cake)
  • Chai and vanilla cake (pastel easter cake)
  • Vanilla blackberry cake
  • Raspberry cake with rose water swiss meringue buttercream

These are stunning, Dini! Really beautiful! I can’t wait for an opportunity to try this! Thank you so much for taking the time to make the tutorial. Now a question about photography (I need major photography tutoring.) I have always enjoyed your photos, but they seem to be even prettier and enticing recently. The photos in this post are AMAZING. Any tips you could share?

Love this Dini! I’ve never used this foam before! Is it just like egg crate foam?

Thank you Julie!! Yes! It is like egg crate foam, but you can easily use an egg packaging box too, or small half sphere moulds. The petals can be dried out in the cavities in there. If you can’t find or don’t want to buy the Fondant foam, you can get a cheaper foam for that too – like a piece of mattress foam!
